“We are thrilled to be working with SEARCHING FOR SONNY,” says Steve Beckman, Head of Acquisitions, FilmBuff. “It is a highly spirited film that captures the energy digital audiences are so hungry for - we can’t wait to share it with them!”

SEACHING FOR SONNY is a hilarious comedy that follows reunited friends, Elliott (Jason Dohring), Calvin (Nick Kocher), Gary (Brian McElhaney) and Eden (Minka Kelly), who find themselves chief suspects in a murder mystery at their ten-year high school reunion. Ironically, the events surrounding the disappearance of their friend Sonny (Masi Oka), is reminiscent of a high school play they once performed, coincidentally written by Sonny himself. Deception leads to scandal and the truth surfaces as the friends learn that shady businessmen and school officials are involved in a complex scheme of money and murder.

The deal was negotiated by FilmBuff’s Steve Beckman, and Red Productions’s Red Sanders and Greg Beauchamp along with Pierce Law Group LLP’s Briana C. Hill on behalf of the filmmakers.

SEARCHING FOR SONNY premiered at the 2011 Austin Film Festival and has since played at over 30 film festivals nationwide. During the film’s festival run, it has won 15 awards, 8 of which were either Best In Show or Best Narrative. Festival wins include Best Screenwriting and Best Ensemble at the Phoenix Film Festival, Best Feature at the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival and Best Director at the Sunscreen Film Festival.
